At first, Cilio, an orange cat who lives in Georgia, United States, seemed determined to maintain his status as an only child.
Accustomed to the tranquility of his owner Paloma’s house, he didn’t accept the arrival of his new little brother very well (and he made sure to make that very clear).
While Ollie, a golden retriever puppy , just wanted to play, get close and make friends, Cilio responded with indifference — or, in more intense cases, with a well-placed paw.
But despite the refusals, the little dog didn’t give up. He tried everything.
Ollie offered his toys, approached gently and looked at his feline brother full of hope.
“He brought Cilio his favorite toy and didn’t understand why the cat didn’t want to play with it,” Paloma recalled in a video posted on social media .
From rejection to friendship
Even through the arguments and the distance, Ollie maintained his gentle demeanor. He was patient. And little by little, it began to make a difference.
As the weeks passed, the records of scratching and snorting gave way to surprising scenes.
First came the shy touches. Then came the side-by-side naps—always somewhat tense, it’s true, but side by side.
“Even though they still got on each other’s nerves from time to time, they started to really like each other,” the owner said.
When Ollie won
But it was at a delicate moment that their relationship took a definitive leap.
Cilio became very ill and his life was in danger. During this difficult time, it was Ollie who was by his side the whole time. Literally.
The dog refused to leave his brother’s side, watched his signals carefully and, as a bonus, even became a kind of living hot water bottle.

And so, unexpectedly, a friendship was born that warms the heart.
Today, Cilio not only tolerates Ollie — he uses him as a pillow!
He sleeps on the dog, purrs against him, and even accepts cuddles while they’re together on the couch.
Similar case
The relationship between Cilio and Ollie is very reminiscent of the story of Pacha and Silly, another duo that took the internet by storm.
- The golden retriever kitten Pacha arrived full of energy at the house where the older cat, Silly, reigned supreme.
Just like Ollie, Pacha did everything he could to win Silly over: he brought toys, lay down nearby, and tried to interact. But the cat solemnly ignored him—or responded with a polite paw.
It was only when the owners gave the dog a pillow with the cat’s picture on it that the game changed.
Pacha became obsessed with the new “toy,” and Silly, upon realizing the competition, finally approached the golden.
Shortly after, they were sleeping in each other’s arms!
