A video showing a dachshund ( popularly known as “sausage dog”) asking for affection from a baby has captivated internet users. The video was posted by @viicroocha_ on TikTok on January 5th and has already received over 2 million views.
In the video, the dog Lunna approaches baby Luísa, who is sitting on the floor, and places her head in her lap.
The baby then begins to pet the dog, who seems very happy with the display of affection.
The baby’s mother, Victória, said in an interview with Amo Meu Pet that the video is a memory from three years ago, when Luísa was just six months old and Lunna was three years old.
She said she always enjoyed filming the interaction between her daughter and the dogs, as they have a very special relationship.
“During my pregnancy, Lunna was the most attached, lying on my belly with her nose, and when my daughter was born, there was always a lot of love between the two of us. Lunna always liked being close,” said Victória, who lives in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul.
She said that the interaction between Luísa and Lunna remains the same to this day.
“Luísa arrives home and Lunna and the others run to greet her, all happy. Luísa keeps saying ‘she’s beautiful, mommy’ and keeps kissing Lunna,” she reported.
Victória said that this interaction between her daughter and the dog evokes a feeling of great love and a lifelong friendship.
She also believes that it is important for a child to grow up with a pet, as this helps with their physical and emotional development.
Besides Lunna, Victória has three other dogs : Dora and Amora, who are Lunna’s daughters, and a cat named Cherry. She said they all get along well and are part of the family.

The post received several comments praising the cuteness of the two and the harmony between them.
An article published in Saúde magazine and shared on the website bebé.com.br listed eight benefits of living with pets for children, based on scientific evidence.
These include strengthening the immune system, stimulating the brain, emotional development, stress management, preventing obesity, and providing therapeutic support for children with physical and neurological disorders.
Also according to the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics (SBP) portal , the relationship with animals makes children try to perform the same activity several times, improving motor skills.
