For a long time, a stray dog wandered alone through the streets of São Paulo. Without love, care, or even respect, he only knew the ugly face of humanity.
His fear of humans was so great that if any citizen tried to approach him, the poor thing would run away.
Before knowing whether the person was good or not, and whether they were there to help him or not, he preferred to keep his distance.
Only God knows the horrors this dear one went through.
But his dark world was about to come to an end!
Because, on November 30, 2022, a couple approached him, breaking all his barriers and stealing his heart.
If before he was just another animal living under the shadow of society, now he is called Snickers and is part of Suiane Torres’ family.
The rescue
Suiane Torres and her husband were driving on a busy road when they saw the black-coated mongrel limping in the street.
Seeing him in that situation touched the couple’s hearts, and they immediately parked the vehicle, and Suiane’s husband got out to stop the traffic and rescue him.
The couple spent about an hour trying to capture him, but, fearful, the little stray made the rescue difficult by fleeing from all attempts to be caught.
The dog was so skittish that the couple gave up on rescuing him.
However, the image of the pet limping on the street remained strong in their memory, and they felt compelled to go back and try another rescue, and they succeeded!
As Suiane stated in a video she shared on social media: “We beat you to exhaustion.”
Snickers was taken to a veterinary clinic for medical evaluation. At every touch or approach, he cowered in fear. Terror was evident in his eyes.
Until, with love and patience, the dog began to trust humans again, at least his saviors!
New life
Initially, the couple would be a temporary home, but as they lived together, they fell in love with the stray dog, and giving him to another family was out of the question.
The new Snickers story was destined to be rewritten in Suiane’s family!
Now, for over a year, he has lived the life every pet deserves: full of love, affection, care and protection.
“You made our family even more complete and we didn’t even know that was possible. God gave us you as a gift and we will take care of you forever. Whether you like it or not,” the guardian wrote in the video caption.
The post has accumulated more than 1.4 million views and thousands of comments.
“How beautiful! Thank you for so much! They always deserve the best,” wrote one user.
“Angels rescuing angels!” declared another.

Another exciting rescue
A video shows the before and after of the rescue of an extremely weak and injured dog in Mondaí, Santa Catarina, on January 26, 2022 by the Civil Police.
The animal, named Molinha, was found in a state of mistreatment, thin and chained.
He was placed under the care of independent lawyer and protector Priscila Bernardi, who has been carrying out rescues for 10 years.
Molinha, who was previously tied up in precarious conditions, now enjoys freedom and care, living alongside Alfredo, his canine friend.
He has recovered physically, psychologically and neurologically, and is well and happy.
