An example of this occurred earlier this month. Alane wasdriving down the street where she lives when she spotted an abandoned dog in a vacant lot.
Saddened by the scene, the woman called her husband, asking him to rescue the animal. And so he did!
The rescue
Benjamin prepared a small bowl of food. As he walked to the location, he hoped the dog was still there, as it had been a while since his wife’s call.
When he got there, the pet remained the same, lying curled up in the middle of the bushes. But fearful, he wouldn’t let anyone get close, growling at Benjamin.
The poor thing must have been really mistreated to act like that, right? Besides, he didn’t want to eat or drink anything.
After an hour trying to capture the dog, which turned out to be a female, Benjamin, with Alane’s help, managed to rescue the stray dog.
New home
Benjamin leashed his dogs so they wouldn’t feel threatened and attack the newly rescued dog. He then released the dog into the yard with food and water, where she remained, squeamish, huddled near the wall.
Little by little, the pet began to explore the new environment, lying down in different spots around the yard. However, she still wouldn’t allow Benjamin to approach.
It was then that, with patience and love, Alane won the little stray’s trust! And it wasn’t long before Benjamin won her little heart too.
With her trust gained, the little dog took a nice and relaxing bath given to her by her ‘mommy’.
