A few days ago, internet user Valentina Gonzalez adopted a kitten. However, she was worried about her dog’s reaction to meeting the new member of the family. Well, her fears were allayed, as her pet had the best reaction.

It only took one day for the dog to fall in love! The compilation of videos featuring the pair’s interaction was posted on Valentina’s TikTok profile on January 18th.

In the first scene, the dog appears with a suspicious expression, looking at the kitten in someone’s lap. Then the feline is seen running around the room with the dog following behind (I think she was escorting the little one so she wouldn’t do anything wrong).

In the following episodes, it’s all love! Sometimes the dog is seen licking the feline, sometimes the feline is seen suckling on the pet (she must have thought the dog was her mother). Play? That’s what they do!

This unconventional friendship won over a huge fan base! The post has received over 161,000 views and hundreds of comments.

Some dogs and cats are more sociable than others. As we’ve seen, Valentina’s pets haven’t had any socialization issues. However, if you’re worried your pet might react differently, check out some tips from the Paws animal shelter in the US.

  • Keep them separated. Meanwhile, give the resident animal clues that there’s a new member of the family. How do you do this? Swap blankets, give one blanket to the other, and vice versa, so they get used to the scent.
  • Another tactic is to restrain the resident animal and let the new one roam around the house, spreading its scent. This also allows the new member to familiarize themselves with their new home.
  • When it’s time to present, proceed with caution. Respect each person’s time; if necessary, separate them from each other again. And always be present to prevent any aggression.
