Have you ever seen a dog getting along with a chick?
Well, this unlikely duo proves that friendship has no barriers!
While many people think that dogs and birds don’t mix, Mel, a Bull Terrier, proves otherwise, caring for her baby chick as if it were part of the family.
The little one, in turn, seems to completely trust his four-legged friend, snuggling up without fear.
If there’s anything cuter than this, we’ve yet to see it!
About Mel
This little duo lives in Araçatuba, São Paulo, under the care of Geni Santos Guimarães Boer.
In an interview with Amo Meu Pet, Geni said that Mel is five years old and came to the family through her daughter.
At the time, her dog gave birth to two puppies, and one of them was Mel.
However, the birth was by cesarean section, and the puppies’ mother ended up rejecting the stitches from the surgery, needing to be hospitalized for 45 days.
During this period, Geni took care of the two little ones.
When the dog was finally discharged and returned home, she ended up rejecting the puppies.
Therefore, Geni decided to keep one of them, while the other was adopted by a new family.
Since then, Mel has become Geni’s inseparable companion, bringing joy and affection to the family’s daily life.
With her sweet and affectionate nature, she won over not only her guardian, but also everyone around her.
“She loves children, goes camping with us and, on every trip, she makes friends with the children to the point of crying when we say goodbye,” said Geni.
But besides the children, Mel also made a very unusual friend: a little chick!
Friendship
What could have been just curiosity quickly turned into a special friendship, full of affection and companionship.
The two are inseparable!
Geni revealed that Mel has always had a protective instinct for the chicks that are born on the property.
However, the friendship with this particular one is even stronger, as he had a difficult start in life.
The little boy was found alone and lost on the street, and Mel, with her loving way, immediately took him in, becoming his guardian and best friend.
“This one was found on the street and they left it here until they found its owner. So, Mel kept making sure it didn’t stray from the balcony. When she lay down, it would climb on her back or get between her legs,” said Geni.

Another cute friendship
An unusual friendship caught the attention of the Wake County Animal Center (WCAC) shelter in North Carolina, USA.
Since arriving at the site in March, Cinnamon, a goat, and Felix, a dog, have demonstrated such a strong bond that the team decided not to separate them.
The shelter doesn’t usually take in farm animals, but made an exception when they saw that the two were inseparable.

They ate, slept, and played together, and when separated, they became visibly sad—Cinnamon would even scream or bang her head on the door.
To ensure they stayed together, WCAC enlisted the help of The Mr. Mo Project, which found a farm willing to adopt them.
There, Cinnamon will be able to live with other goats, but always with Felix nearby.
