Golden retriever Seaviane isn’t just a beautiful and charismatic dog. She’s also a beloved “step-granddaughter” to an elderly couple who live next door to her owners.
Since she was a puppy, the dog has formed a special bond with the couple, who are now affectionately called “grandma and grandpa of the heart.” And their relationship, of course, melted the hearts of internet users.
In videos posted on the dog’s social media, it is possible to see how much the love between her and her neighbors has grown over the years.
From her first walks, as a baby, she already showed a special affection for them.
In an interview with Record , Gabriella, the owner, said that it was the dog who chose to approach the couple.
Now an adult and full of energy, Seaviane doesn’t let a single day go by without visiting her adoptive grandparents.
And if for some reason an in-person visit can’t happen, she finds a way: the guardians video call so she can see her dear friends.
When she visits the couple, Seaviane is treated like family: she receives affection, fruit, ice-cold water served in her special little bowl, and she can even climb into bed.
She enters the house, goes straight to her room, and looks for Grandpa in the backyard. Wherever he is, she goes after him.
The elderly couple, Mr. Antônio and Mrs. Jandira, live alone. Their children and grandchildren live in another city, and the presence of their golden retriever has filled an important emotional void.
“I love it when she comes here, because it’s just me and him,” says Dona Jandira.
And it’s easy to see that the feeling is mutual. As soon as she gets close to their home, Seaviane starts tugging on the leash, eager to see them again.
Besides being an affectionate canine granddaughter, Seaviane also dedicates part of her time to a noble mission: she is a therapy dog.
Once a week, she visits hospitals and nursing homes in Piracicaba, São Paulo, where she lives, bringing comfort, joy, and affection to those who need it most. In other words, she’s loving both inside and outside the home.

Another exciting case
At the beginning of the year, another moving case went viral on social media.
- David Whitehead, a 75-year-old retired teacher, who, after being widowed and moving into a dog-free home, wrote a letter to his neighbors asking to meet the neighborhood dogs.
“If you have a dog and would let me meet him, it would mean a lot to me,” he wrote.
David received such a positive response that he was soon surrounded by new four-legged friends.
Within a few days, I had already met five dogs and scheduled walks with others. This initiative, which began out of loneliness, eventually transformed into a beautiful network of love, affection, and real connections.
