The sight of an otter enjoying salmon at a table is charming, but two otters doing so is doubly delightful.
Hana and Kotaro, two Eastern small-clawed otters, have gained internet fame for good reason.
This pair is irresistibly adorable, and their playful antics are wonderfully entertaining. Their ‘salmon snacking’ video, boasting over 13 million views, is exactly the heartwarming content everyone needs today.

In a video shared by their owner, Hana gets a special reprieve from her diet to join Kotaro for a salmon snack.
The owner explained in the video that Hana had been placed on a diet because she was a bit overweight.
Upon seeing her salmon, she happily bounces around and chirps with excitement.

“Hana is on a diet, so I haven’t given her any salmon for a while,” the owner noted.
It’s immediately apparent why Hana was on a diet; the sheer bliss on her face is clear evidence of her hearty appetite.

“But since she lost some weight, she gets a cheat day!”
The video shows both otters patiently seated at a table, anticipating their treat.
The owner narrates the imagined exchange: for Hana, the thought is, “It’s all mine,” to which Kotaro supposedly replies, “Seriously?”

Hana devours her salmon in mere seconds, while Kotaro takes his time, savoring every bite.
After finishing first every time, Hana lets out a pitiful, attention-seeking screech. Since Kotaro still has plenty of salmon, Hana quickly seizes the chance to snatch some.
Before she can get too greedy, the treat time concludes. Hana is clearly not a satisfied otter.

Soon, it’s time for lunch, and the otters return to the table.
Kotaro is thoroughly enjoying his salmon, holding pieces up and letting them drop into his mouth. He carefully clutches one piece in his tiny paw, guarding it from Hana.
Kotaro is so absorbed in his meal that he doesn’t notice Hana is almost done with hers.

“Oops, Hana is almost done!” the owner humorously warns Kotaro.
Hana finishes her salmon in record time and darts across the table to claim Kotaro’s food.
Thankfully, the owner snatches the food away just in time.

Hana searches around the table again for more food, prompting the owner to ask, “Do you want to get fat again?”
To signal that there are no more snacks, the owner waves her hand as if saying goodbye. The otters take the hint and slide off the table, awaiting their next delicious reward.

In another video posted to YouTube by the owners, Hana celebrates her birthday with a surprise featuring a conveyor belt ‘sushi’ display.

Online viewers shared their affection for Hana and Kotaro:
“New life goal: To be as happy as these two otters get over a plate of salmon.”
“And I thought Salmon made me happy. This is on a whole new level.”
“I like how they are sitting down like people.”
