When you’re stressed , what do you like to do? Go to the movies, take a walk outside, listen to music , read a good book, or just relax at home?
Luan Aguiar, who lives in Recife, Pernambuco , enjoys walking outdoors, but nothing makes him happier than having the company of his four pets , who make every moment even more special.
However, on the last outing with the gang, Luan never imagined what they would do and was in disbelief at the scene.

What could the fantastic four have gotten up to?
Luan is the guardian of two golden retrievers , a Pomeranian and a Shih Tzu , meaning there is no shortage of love, mess and lots of fun stories to tell in his home .
And one of the stories that Luan will certainly carry forever in his memory is the time he went out for a walk and to relax with his dogs, and ended up discovering that they have an unexpected kinship with the armadillo.
This is because all four, without exception, even Pomeranian , who is usually seen as a delicate lap dog, have shown that they also know how to put their paws in the ground and become true diggers.
And it doesn’t stop there… when they found a mud puddle, the four couldn’t resist and dove in with all their energy, turning the outing into a real party of dirt and fun.
Many owners wonder why their dogs love to play in the mud, and the answer has to do with both instinct and pleasure.
According to the Dogster website , this behavior could have several explanations. One is the instinct for scent camouflage , inherited from their wild ancestors, such as wolves. By rolling in the mud, dogs mask their natural scent, which in the wild could aid hunting or even protect them from predators.
Another reason is thermal relief : since dogs don’t sweat like humans, the cold mud helps cool them down on hot days. Furthermore, the experience of getting wet is a form of fun and sensory stimulation for many dogs . The combination of smells, textures, and sensations arouses their curiosity and keeps them entertained, even helping to reduce stress and boredom.
Finally, some dogs resort to mud after bathing because they may be bothered by the smell of shampoo or other products used. In this case, mud acts as a way to “restore” their natural scent, which they feel more comfortable with.
Well, we don’t know exactly what led Luan’s dogs to the mud, but one thing is certain: they were very happy , having more fun than ever and turning the trip into an unforgettable memory for their owner.
Luan didn’t care at all, on the contrary, he had fun seeing the joy reflected on his four companions and realized that their happiness was worth much more than the dirt in the mud.
It went viral
Luan filmed the dogs’ joy in the mud and shared the video on his TikTok profile, @luandacachorrada , on September 21. In the caption, he wrote:
‘The kind of thing I can find to relax when I’m alone.’
The post quickly racked up over 3.2 million views and thousands of comments full of humor and affection.
“These are unique moments for both of us. I once took my poodles to the beach, they had long fur and thought it was a good idea to dry off on the soft sand lol ,” wrote one user. Luan replied: “Exactly! Whenever possible, we do this kind of thing and it makes our day much happier. ” “Their happiest day lol,” said another. And Luan joked: “Yes lol and I don’t deprive them of these moments, I just watch in despair . “
‘Only those who take risks deserve to experience the extraordinary,’ commented another user.
“I’ve learned, next time I’ll always leave it. Their lives are short, and they don’t complain about bad smells or speak badly of us. They’re more sincere,” said another.
“The dog: ‘What is life, life is wonderful… lol'”, commented another TikToker.
In the end, it’s safe to say that, apart from Luan with the terrified look on his face , everyone came out a winner: the dogs, for the fun, and the pet shop , for the extra bath that certainly came afterwards.
Life is too short not to enjoy it
Dogs live, on average, 10 to 15 years , and so every moment spent with them should be cherished as unique . With this in mind, Luan makes a point of enjoying every walk , every game , and every gesture of affection with his four life companions.
Luan allows his dogs to enjoy outdoor walks the way they like best, without unnecessary limitations. As he himself stated: “No matter the breed, their nature is the same. Respect it.”
Dogs enjoy having fun outdoors because it’s an experience that goes far beyond simple play. Contact with nature provides intense sensory stimulation : they explore different smells, sounds, and textures , which stimulates their natural curiosity and keeps their minds active .
Additionally, running, digging, and playing outdoors helps burn off pent-up energy , preventing behavioral problems and promoting a healthier body .
According to Dogs Go Hiking , outdoor adventures also have a direct impact on pets’ emotional well-being , reducing stress , anxiety , and even symptoms of boredom .
Therefore, walks and leisure time in open areas are not just fun, they are a fundamental part of ensuring quality of life and balance for dogs.
Luan shared another video showing his dogs’ joy as they play outdoors, which also racked up thousands of views and comments, such as:
“Wow, what a delightful video! It’s great to see them happy and having fun.”
“Thank you for making them happy.”
“The puppies: ‘the happiest of my life!'”
Luan knows how to transform simple moments into special memories alongside his dogs, right?
What do you usually do to enjoy time with your pet? It could be a leisurely walk outside, an afternoon of play, a unique outing, or even relaxing on the couch. The important thing is to cherish every moment, because these moments will stay with us forever.
