Last week, in downtown São Paulo, a young woman witnessed a scene that she made a point of recording.
A street cleaner was washing the street when two dogs stopped right in front of him, as if waiting for something. And the worker seemed to get the message.
Discreetly, he turned on the hose and began spraying water back and forth.
Immediately, the dogs exploded with joy. They jumped, chased the water, and tried to “bite” the splashes.
The young woman filmed the scene and shared it on her cat’s Instagram profile, @shake_o_gato .
The video received more than 240 thousand views and 26 thousand likes, in addition to hundreds of emotional comments.
“I know these dogs. I see them every day around downtown,” commented one follower. “They have an owner; they usually hang out at Patriarca Square.”
“The puppies, help me Juninho, play more, it’s so hot,” joked another.
Others were also moved by the simplicity of the scene:
“The puppies are so cute playing with the water the employee is using to wash the street. The joy and innocence of animals. God bless all who love and respect animals.”
“What innocence, they are amazing,” said another.
It’s not the first time
Dogs’ love of water has already led to other cute and viral scenes. In São Caetano do Sul, São Paulo, a stray dog won over local residents precisely because of his morning routine: asking to play in the square’s fountain .
Every day, he stands in the spot, barking insistently until someone presses the button that activates the water jets . When the water starts rising, he runs from one side to the other, tries to bite the jets, and even invites humans to join in.
“I arrived late to work because I kept pressing the button for him,” confessed one internet user.
This little dog has become such a part of the local routine that families now bring their children to play with him, sharing the fountain with him.

If you have one of these at home, there are several safe and fun activities :
- Swimming: Whether in a dog-friendly pool, lake, or stream, many dogs feel at home in the water. The important thing is to ensure safety by always supervising and, if necessary, using life jackets.
- Canine surfing: can you believe it? There are even annual dog surfing competitions, a tradition started by Tillman, a bulldog who became famous for surfing and skateboarding.
- Toy retrieval: Throwing balls or other toys into the water for your dog to retrieve is a fun alternative. Choose shallow, safe waters.
- Boating and stand-up paddleboarding: ideal for adventurous dogs who feel comfortable on the water. A life jacket is also essential.
- Diving Dogs: A popular sport in the US in which dogs jump from a platform to retrieve a toy from the water. They are judged on the distance of their jump, and the game can be adapted on a smaller scale at home.
These activities are not only fun but also help burn off energy, improve physical fitness, and further strengthen the bond between dogs and their owners.
