Terms & conditions

The rules for using MoralFace.

These Terms & Conditions govern your use of MoralFace (the “site”). By accessing or using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please stop using the site.

1. The service

MoralFace is a free online publication offering news, features and explainers. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the site at any time without notice.

2. Intellectual property

Articles, headlines, illustrations, graphics, the logo and the design of the site are protected by copyright and other rights and belong to MoralFace, its licensors or the credited owners. Third-party names, images and trademarks remain the property of their owners and are used for identification and reporting only.

3. What you may do

You may read the site for personal, non-commercial use, share links to our articles and quote short extracts with a clear credit and a link back to the original article. Any other use, such as republishing whole articles, systematically copying content or using it to train or feed other products, needs our prior written permission.

4. What you may not do

  • attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers or user accounts;
  • use bots, scrapers or other automated means to bulk-download content, or bypass technical protection measures;
  • upload or transmit malicious code, spam or unlawful, defamatory or infringing material;
  • pretend to be another person or organisation, or misrepresent your affiliation with us;
  • use our content in a way that misleads others about its origin or meaning.

5. Messages and submissions

If you send us a message, tip or other material, you confirm that you are entitled to do so. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use what you send to review it, answer you and, where you have agreed, to publish it. How we handle personal data is described in our privacy policy.

6. Editorial content and accuracy

We work to publish accurate and up-to-date information and to correct errors promptly, but we cannot guarantee that every article is complete, current or free of errors. Some articles are prepared with the help of automated tools and edited as described in our editorial policy. Opinions expressed in articles are those of the author or the quoted source.

7. No professional advice

The content is provided for general information only. It is not legal, financial, tax, medical or other professional advice, and you should not rely on it as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional.

8. Third-party links, content and advertising

The site contains links to third-party websites and may display advertisements and embedded content from third parties. Advertisements are labelled and are separate from our editorial content. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party websites, products or services, and a link is not an endorsement. If you buy something or share data on a third-party site, your relationship is with that third party.

9. Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we use your email address only to send it. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every message.

10. Privacy and cookies

Please read our privacy policy and cookie policy, which explain what data is processed and how you can control optional cookies.

11. Copyright complaints

If you believe that material on the site infringes your rights, please follow the steps on our Copyright & removal page. We review notices promptly and act on valid ones.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

The site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including about availability, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MoralFace and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, loss of profit, data or goodwill arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or from reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, and rights you have as a consumer.

14. Changes and termination

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the bottom of the page shows the latest revision; if you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated terms. We may restrict or block access for anyone who breaches these terms.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the country in which the publisher is established, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country in which you live remain unaffected.

16. Severability

If a provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect, and the invalid provision is replaced by a valid one that comes closest to its purpose.
